Dentistry is a very rewarding and challenging at the same time. Are you interested in becoming a Dentist?

If you would have told me that I would be a Dentist in High school I would have laughed at you-more than likely out loud! However I love this profession it is a combination of Art and Science that come together with medicine. If these are some of your favorite areas of study then dentistry may be the right career path for you.

It takes a 4 year bachelorette degree and a 4 year Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine in order to get licensed in the United States as a Dentist. The DDS and The DMD are basically synonymous kind of like the MD or DO medical degrees however there seems to be a little bit more difference in the medicals degrees (if any of you Medical Doctors or Doctors of Osteopathic medicine wish to comment here feel free you know more about this than I do). Some states like New York require a 1 year residency post graduate level education before licensure.
